What a day. What a match. Last saturday it was startday at Sparta Nijkerk. One highlight of this day was the kraker between Sparta 3 and KV Apeldoorn 3. And because Gerard’s colleagues (our biggest fans) asked for it, today the verslag is totally in English.

As you may know, Jesse joined our sterrenteam this season. He assumed it would be much easier than joining the selectie, so he thought that in Sparta 3 you don’t have to inschieten or bespreken. But nothing is less true, he knows now.

If you asked yourself sometimes in the past months: where is the summer nou??? Well, the summer had saved itself for all our matches. Just like last week, it was again bloodhot. Now I hear you thinking; But the shoes of Rian were already to little! Yes, that’s true. But luckily Rian is a very smart girl and she told us her solution; she brought smaller socks.

Besides Rian, also the arbitrator was well prepared: he had read the verslag from last week. And that was not the only thing that made him the best arbitrator of the year: later in the evening, when we were running out of beer and not everyone was able to drive anymore, this man got for us ten crates of beers. You read it good. Ten crates. What a man. (He was also smart enough to took the paymaster with him)

Back to business, the match. It took a long time for the 1-0 was made, and Apeldoorn reacted directly. 1-1. It was a bit laborious allemaal, but luckily the Apeldoorners hadn’t also the slag te pakken yet.

In the peace, it stood 4-5. That was not so good. Honestly it shot for no meter up. But the good news was: the paymaster had brought fruit! He had read the new rules very wel, so he brought pineapple, pear and other delicious fruit. And also, for the more autistic people, he brought tangerines. And guess what? You thought Sparta 3 appreciated creativity? Everyone took a tangerine.

We had to trust ourselves, Gerard said. We don’t stand there for jan with the short behindname, and we were playing much better than the Apeldoorners. In the second half, we proved that. You blink two times your eyes and suddenly it stood 10-5! Unbelievable, the players of Sparta 3 played better than ever.

When we heard the final signal, the best arbitrator of the year had 16 goals on the left from his paper and 6 goals on the right. What a match. From 4-5 behind to 16-6 victory! As Francis concluded beautifully: “We have earned a kannetje”

Next week we play at Bennecome, we see you there!
